If you haven’t been to Lake George…go there, now! I keep daydreaming about the views, the lake and the wonderful people I spent it with. Nothing like escaping the city for a weekend filled with hiking and boating in the beautiful summer weather.
My godfather, Stasiek, and his wife, Hania, have a house right on the lake, so it was a total treat to spend this long weekend with them and their kids, Kris and Annette. Saturday was spent kayaking in the early morning with Kris and then relaxing on the dock. Of course I spent it playing with their dog Tasia; she LOVES the water. We had a lovely bonfire at night, grilling kielbasa and hanging out with neighbors and watching the stars.
Sunday morning Jacek, Kris, Hania and I geared up to hike one of the Adirondack’s 46 high peaks, Black Mountain. The best part was that taking boat over to our hiking spot meant swimming after we were done! At just over 5 miles, this hike was a perfect way to start the day and see the Adirondacks… seriously, this place is unreal. From the summit you can see all the high peaks to the West as well as northern Lake George and parts of Vermont to the East.
The rest of Sunday was spent relaxing and tubing out on the lake, swimming with Tasia, getting schooled in tennis by Stasiek and enjoying a beautiful sunset and dinner at the Lake George Club.
Determined to get the most out of my last few hours at the lake, Monday morning I went on a quick 3 mile run with Kris, Hania and Tasia. We ran on some back roads through the forest and along the water- I’m shocked I didn’t trip from constantly staring in every different direction at the scenery. Our last few hours were spent back on the water tubing and swimming with Tasia and the boys before heading back to Brooklyn.
This was the perfect summer weekend and I can’t wait to go back for another visit!
